International Travel for Equines

The procedures for International Travel for Equines changed on 1 January 2021 when the United Kingdom left the European Union. The United Kingdom may be used as a landbridge for access to the continent. The procedures for this differ to direct import/export with the United Kingdom. All paperwork must be completed online at least 24 hours prior to departure. Kylemore Abbey to place Connemara mare and foal in Áras Paddocks

Kylemore Abbey is delighted to announce an exciting new partnership between Áras an Uachtaráin and the Abbey whereby each year a Connemara mare and foal from the Kylemore Herd will take up residence with the President of Ireland and graze the Áras paddocks from May to September. The partnership was formed following discussions implementing biodiversity grazing strategies in both the Áras and Kylemore Abbey and a subsequent visit to Kylemore by President Higgins and his wife Sabina. Due to the ongoing Covid restrictions with regard to the number of people permitted to attend an organized indoor gathering, it is not possible to hold the AGM in person before year end. Extension to get your stallion details entered - deadline Friday 16th October Online Stallion Directory The Connemara Pony Breeders’ Society is compiling a free online approved stallion directory for publication in the autumn of this year.  The directory will be a comprehensive source of Connemara stallions available for service in Ireland (arranged by county) and abroad.  It will contain pedigree information, a linear profile (where applicable), a photograph of each stallion, stallion performance records where available and owner/keeper contact information.
