The CPBS Council had their final council meeting of 2016 on Monday evening (28th). The president held a minutes silence for the late Claire Lowe (CPBS Judge) and the late Bertie McNamara (brother of Joe McNamara (CPBS judge). The main topic on the agenda was a review of the CPBS inspection process. All council members present had the opportunity to give their views and recommendations to the meeting. This years Connemara pony sales held in Clifden over the bank holiday weekend took place over 4 days with 840 ponies catalogues. Day 1 Friday October 28 comprised of mainly broken & ridden ponies with a small number of unbroken geldings also. A large overseas presence could be noticed from early in the sale. The new Council of the Connemara Pony Breeders’ Society met yesterday evening. Mr. Brett (President) welcomed old and new faces and stated he looked forward to working with everyone in the future. The meeting addressed the main points raised at the AGM on Sunday 9th October and it was decided to dedicate the next Council meeting to a review of the CPBS Inspections. The CPBS office would like to thank our breeders and members for their patience with the recent closer of the office and phone lines. Just to clarify the reporting and recording of HWSD on passports. All new DNA applications received in the CPBS office from the end of May 2016 were tested for HWSD. We are starting the results list from the 21/09/2016 today.
