High Performance Qualifier Change

The qualifier for the High Performance which was due to take place at Galway County Show on Sunday 19th June has now been cancelled, A qualifier will now take place at the Midlands Connemara Pony Show at Mullingar Equestrian Centre on Sunday July 31st....

Connemara Champions from DI Winter Championships

[caption id="attachment_12707" align="alignleft" width="300"] Kinvara Tan & Carn Verdon Boy[/caption] It was great to have Carn Verdon Boy and Kinvara Tan in Clifden today for some photos with their rosettes from the Dressage Ireland Winter Final Championships. Carn Verdon Boy and Alana won the Novice category 2 Championships and were Reserve Champion in the Elementory.  Carn Verdon Boy was also the highest placed Connemara pony at the Show.  Owned by Deirdre & Joan Geoghegan, ridden by Alana Cazabon Kinvara Tan and Sille van der Wijk won the Preliminary Championship. All Foals to be Tested for HWSD

The CPBS is delighted to announce that we have successfully secured funding from the Department of Agriculture to fund 50% of the cost of HWSD testing for Connemara breeders. Following our recent Council meeting all ponies registered this year will be tested for HWSD when being parentage tested. Foal registration kits for members will now cost €75 (including VAT) and foal registration kits for non-members will cost €130 (including VAT). Testing will commence immediately.  ...

Connemara’s well represented at Fontainebleau 2016

Two Connemara ponies will be representing Ireland in the CSIP YP in Fontainebleau this week. Kilroosky Boy 6 year old stallion  by Killaloe Buachaill Mór, ex Errislannan Samozel (Loobeen Larry). Owned by Keith Murray from Roscommon and ridden by Sean Monaghan Foyleview Jasmin 6 year old mare , by Carnabay Mirah, ex Dancing Nellie (Gentle Dancer). Connemara’s shine bright at Dressage Ireland Winter Final Championships

Carn Verdon Boy (by: Ferdia & ex: Carn Lady Ash) had a super weekend competing at the DI Winter Final Championships, where he won the Novice catergory 2 Championship and was Reserve Champion in the Elementory and to top it all off he was the highest placed Connemara pony at the show. Some achievement for this 8 year old gelding who only started his dressage career four months ago...

Council Meeting Report

The council of the CPBS met on Wednesday evening for their fourth meeting of the year; it was a lengthy meeting with a mammoth agenda to get through. As promised at February’s meeting, a continuation of Jack Murphy’s report was discussed. A large range of topics were examined from breed standards & over height ponies to whether or not to continue with classification? An email address is being set up for breeders, owners and members to give their thoughts on such subjects. Praise was given to the successful spring festival last weekend...
