See the best of the Connemara Pony breed at the CPBS Spring Festival with Connemara Equestrian Escapes

To coincide with the Connemara Pony Breeder’s prestigious Spring Festival, Connemara Equestrian Escapes is running a short break from March 28th – 30th. The itinerary will include a visit to the historic showgrounds in Clifden to watch some of the finest examples of the Connemara Pony breed demonstrating their paces.

This is an ideal opportunity to witness first-hand the versatility of these amazing ponies, in the heart of Connemara and to experience for yourself what it feels like to gallop along a beach or hack up a mountain path astride one of these sure-footed and reliable ponies.

You arrive early on Friday afternoon and be treated to Prosecco and chocolate. When you’re ready, we set off on horseback to explore the area around Renvyle and work up an appetite, and maybe a thirst.

After breakfast next we set off for the morning’s ride. Our ride will take us along the Aughris Peninsula and out on to Omey Island.  After lunch you will get time to enjoy the hotel facilities after which you will be treated to a gourmet 4-course meal, prepared by award-winning chef Tim O’Sullivan. At 8:30pm, The Station House Hotel Theatre in Clifden will play host to a fascinating lecture by well-known pony breeder Henry O’Toole where you will meet many other pony breeders and enthuasiasts.

After Sunday breakfast, there will be another chance to explore the Connemara landscape and appreciate the freedom and security afforded by your Connemara Pony or Irish Draught Horse. At 12pm, we divert your attention to the wonderful feast to the eye that is the stallion parade followed by a dressage to music demonstration by the renowned breed/rider/instructor Mary Mitchell of Western Stables.
