Council Meeting Report

The CPBS Council met in Ballinasloe yesterday for its June meeting. A working group led by Denise Norton which was formed to discuss Dr. Jack Murphy’s discussion document recommended that colt owners be given the opportunity to bring their colts for a private linear profiling session in the Autumn before they are presented for inspection to offer advice and education to colt owners. It was agreed to offer this service at a fee of €20 per colt.

Once the show is over a complete review of the inspection system will be top of the agenda. All regional groups, daughter societies and members are encouraged to give their views and opinions on inspections.

A judges training course is being organised for people wishing to be considered for the in-hand judges panel. Applicants must be a member of the CPBS, be aged over twenty five , be resident in Ireland and must complete an application form which is available on the CPBS website. Closing date for receipt of applications is 29/6/16.

Two training days for Young Handlers aged ten to fifteen are being organised for the 16of July. One to take place in Creagh Equestrian Centre, Ballinasloe and one to take place in Mallow, Co. Cork. The cost is €20 per child or €30 for two siblings.

The show committee reported that preparations for the show are well underway and work is being done on the grounds.
