Job Description – Finance Officer CPBS

The Finance Officer of the CPBS has responsibility for overseeing financial record keeping and reporting systems, and for assisting with the maintenance of administrative systems. The position contributes to meeting statutory reporting and funding submission requirements, including assisting with submissions and returns to funding bodies, and to statutory agencies.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • To be accountable to the Members of the Council through the President of the Society.
  • To establish and maintain good working relationships with the Executive Team, Council
    Members and staff within the Society.
  • To contribute to the preparation and projection of annual Society budgets in conjunction with the Secretary to the Society.
  • To contribute to the preparation of monthly income and expenditure statements and budget comparison and cash flow reports.
  • To present to Council a quarterly financial report.
  • To ensure the timely preparation of financial year end schedule.
  • To liaise with and assist external auditors in respect of annual Financial Statements and related matters.
  • To ensure the Society’s Financial Policies and Procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • To have oversight to ensure adequate and current insurances are maintained by the Society.
  • To assist with financial aspects of returns to the Society’s statutory funders and to ensure their timely submission.
  • To assist with funding submissions to the Society’s primary funders, corporate sponsors and other donors.
  • To assist with the organisation and control of the ordering, purchasing.
  • To ensure that funds are properly managed, financial records are accurately kept and financial probity is maintained.
  • To ensure that all payments processed are in line with the Society’s financial procedures.
  • To ensure sub-committees submit timely detailed budgets and monitor the budgets to ensure budget limits are not exceeded.
  • To be an effective Executive Committee member taking collective responsibility for the corporate governance of the Society.
  • To carry out other duties commensurate with the position, as may be determined by the Society President.
