Job Description – President CPBS

The President of the Society has a reporting function to, and is responsible to, the Council. Lead and position the Society at the forefront of the Connemara Pony business/industry. Represent the Society at home and abroad. Develop a strategic plan to advance the Society’s mission and objectives, and promote and grow the Society. Oversee Society operations to ensure efficiency, quality, service and cost effective management of resources.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • To develop a strategic plan that guides the direction of the Society in advancing its mission and objectives.
  • To shape and produce a business plan for the Society which sets out principal performance objectives and ensures that all members and staff are aware of what they will personally contribute to the success of the Society.
  • To communicate the Vision for the Society, its goals and priorities, including the specific focus and objectives for the short, medium and long-term to all of the members of the Society.
  • To be an effective Executive Committee member taking collective responsibility for the corporate governance of the Society.
  • To develop an active and engaged Executive Team that drives the Society’s strategic plan.
  • To advance the promotion of the Connemara Pony through the development of oversees Societies.
  • To act in an advisory capacity to the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine on matters concerning the Connemara Pony.
  • To oversee the complete operation of the Society in accordance with the direction established in the Strategic Plans.
  • To oversee Society operations to ensure efficiency, quality, service and cost effective management of resources.
  • To plan, develop and implement strategies for generating resources and/or revenues for the Society.
  • To approve Society operational procedures, policies and standards.
  • To evaluate performance of executives for compliance with established policies and objectives of the society and contributions in attaining objectives.
  • To promote and represent the Society through written articles and personal appearances at conferences and through other media.
  • To promote the Society to local, regional, national and international levels.
  • To represent the Society at committee meetings and formal functions.
  • To present Society reports at Annual General Meetings and Council member meetings.
  • To direct company planning and policy-making sub-committees.
  • To engage with and oversee marketing opportunities for the Society.
  • To prepare broad Marketing strategies & direct marketing team to meet the goals & develop PR.
  • To perform any other task as assigned by the Council.
  • To establish and maintain good working relationships with the Executive Team, Council Members and staff within the Society..
