Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the Connemara Pony Breeders’ Society
As we stand on the threshold of a remarkable milestone, Cumann Lucht Capaillíní Chonamara (CPBS) proudly celebrates its 100th year of dedication to the Connemara Pony from you the breeders and members of the society. This centenary is not only a testament to your enduring commitment to our Pony but also a moment to reflect on the incredible journey that has brought us to this pivotal point. Founded in 1923, Cumann Lucht Capaillíní Chonamara the Society took great pride in commemorating its one hundredth year when unveiling a commemorative plaque before this year’s Annual General Meeting in honour of the founding members of the Connemara Pony Breeders Society. Today on the actual date of that first meeting, we acknowledge the forward-thinking of the initial council in preserving and enhancing our unique native pony breed. Additionally, we recognize the breed’s significant contribution to the economy and development of Connemara and the greater equine industry in Ireland.
Over the last century, the CPBS has played a pivotal role in preserving and promoting the Connemara Pony, our pony is renowned worldwide for its versatility, strength, and intelligence. Today, as we commemorate our rich history, we look forward with great enthusiasm to the future, embracing the next chapter in our shared journey with a renewed sense of purpose.
Looking ahead, the CPBS reaffirms its commitment to supporting you, our members efforts to establish the Connemara Pony as the world’s premier pony for both sport and recreation. The Society’s Mission Statement is ambitious yet grounded in the traditions that have defined us over the past 100 years. To achieve this, the society is committed to provide services of the highest standards of excellence, ensuring that our members have the resources, knowledge, and support they need to excel in every aspect of Connemara Pony breeding, showcasing, and competition.
As guardians of the Connemara Pony legacy, we should recognize the responsibility entrusted to us. It is of utmost importance that we continue to act in the best interests of our members and our affiliated Societies throughout the world.
Our centenary is not just a celebration of the past; it needs to be an affirmation of our enduring commitment to the future. Going forward together we need a shared determination to elevate the Connemara Pony to new heights, ensuring its prominence as a global symbol of excellence in the world of equestrianism.
Here’s to a century of achievements, and to many more milestones in the years to come.
