Foal Forecasts 2024 for SNP (Single Nucleotide Polymorphism) Testing

Important Information pre Foaling Season   The introduction of SNP  in 2023 extended the testing process in the lab and in many cases (especially when the parents are not SNP genotyped) this led to longer turnaround times with samples resulting in the delay in issuing foal passports. Passport Information

For breeders’ information, the number of passports issued by the CPBS office so far this year is 2155.  To date the number of 2023 foal passports issued is 957.   We have issued passports for all positive results received from Weatherby's Scientific.   To those who have received undesired results we are working on a solutions to resolve these issues with minimal impact on the breeder.   We would like to thank all our breeders' and members' for their continued support and understanding during the transition from Microsatellite to SNP testing....

CPBS Ridden Judges Course

CPBS Ridden Judges Course/Assessment 2023 The Connemara Pony Breeders’ Society will be running a course and assessment for prospective ridden judges. The course will be run on the 14th of October in Co. Galway, Venue to be confirmed. SHOW WEEK OPENING HOURS

The 98th Annual Connemara Pony Show will be taking place at the Showgrounds, Clifden from the 15th to the 18th of August 2023.  In order for the Staff to facilitate the administration and smooth running of the Show and peripheral events during Show Week, the office and phone lines of the CPBS will be closed for regular office administration.  The office phone lines will close from 1pm on Monday 14th of August and reopen at 10am on Monday the 22nd of August.
