Passing of Phil MacDermott RIP

The Connemara Pony Breeders' Society are saddened to hear of the death of former CPBS Secretary Phil McDermott. Funeral arrangements are as follows: Reposing at the O'Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue, Galway on Wednesday (St. Stephen's day) from 2.00 p.m. with Removal at 4.00 p.m. to Christ the King Church, Salthill. Funeral after 11.00 a.m. Requiem Mass on Thursday 27th December to Rahoon cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations if desired to Galway Hospice. May she rest in peace...

Passing of Countess April Merveldt

Countess April Merveldt passed away peacefully yesterday evening (October 30) in Naas hospital. Aged 91, she will be remembered in many walks of equestrian life, from winning the bareback high jump in Calgary in the 1940s and show jumping, in the dressage world, her development of the working hunter classes in the Irish Pony Society from her experiences and knowledge gained from her time spent in California, in the pony club, to her passionate interest in the Connemara pony.
