Ruth Rogers receives Special Recognition Award

Veteran photojournalist and Connemara Pony breeding expert Ruth Rogers was presented with a Special Recognition Award for her contribution to the industry at yesterday’s The Irish Field Irish Horse World awards in The K Club, Co Kildare, yesterday (Monday). For over 50 years, Ruth Rogers’s camera has documented Ireland’s racing and sport horse scene. Her early career was spent assisting her father George and uncle, CA Rogers, in breaking and training thoroughbred and show horses. After the outstanding success of recent years, organisers are delighted to announce that they have secured two new classes. The first of these is a ridden class with the stipulations "Registered Ridden Connemara Pony mare or gelding , 4years old or over suitable for and to be ridden by riders who have obtained their 10th birthday but not their 16th, on the 1st January 2019". Passing of Phil MacDermott RIP

The Connemara Pony Breeders' Society are saddened to hear of the death of former CPBS Secretary Phil McDermott. Funeral arrangements are as follows: Reposing at the O'Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue, Galway on Wednesday (St. Stephen's day) from 2.00 p.m. with Removal at 4.00 p.m. to Christ the King Church, Salthill. Funeral after 11.00 a.m. Requiem Mass on Thursday 27th December to Rahoon cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations if desired to Galway Hospice. May she rest in peace...
