Diamonds Equestrian Centre are hoping to hold a training evening for the Certificate in Equine Transport. The course will consist of a 2 hour theory on a Wednesday evening 7pm-9pm in Renvyle, Co Galway. Once numbers are confirmed the date will be confirmed but it is hoped to be held in early February. Having marked the Golden Jubilees of the Danish and Swedish Societies recently we now have news of another remarkable Golden Jubilee. For logistical reasons the United States is divided into ten regions and Region One includes the north eastern states of Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode island, Vermont, Massachusetts and Connecticut. Next July Region One will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its show. The CPBS deeply regret the passing of Council Member Eamonn McDonagh of Ower West, Rosscahill, Co. Galway. Eamonn was a key member of the Memorandum and Articles Committee who worked tirelessly to provide a new Constitution for the Society. A Connemara Pony and Irish Draught enthusiast, Eamonn will be keenly missed. The CPBS wishes to extend its condolences to Eamonn's wife and family. Removal to Killanin Church at 7:30, January 23rd. The Connemara Pony Breeders' Society are sorry to hear of the passing of renowned huntsman William Vance (Billy) Here Billy is hunting on his mare Sonnet (by: Tabragh) Billy owned the Connemara stallion Tabragh and was out hunting on his Sonnet the weekend before his passing. Out thoughts are with the Vance family during this sad time. RIP...
It was good to hear from Dr Alan Fahy at the recent educational conference in Haydens Hotel, Ballinasloe that the in breeding co-efficient in the herd had not escalated in the years since Ms. Deirdre Feely did the pioneering study in this field in 2004 That it has remained at 4.4% is no doubt a result of the big influence of Hazy Dawn sons (Green line), that came into the country during those same years. The CPBS Council convened for its first meeting of 2016 yesterday in Ballinasloe. It was agreed to include Health and Safety on every Council meeting agenda in future. The main part of the meeting was devoted to forming sub committees and assigning roles and responsibilities to the sub committees. Each committee was asked to submit a plan and a budget before the next Council meeting on 31st January. As 2015 draws to a close it is fitting to review the year’s highlights. The E.G.M. that put in place the new Memorandum and Articles was the big success of the early summer. This was followed by a successful annual show in August where the number of ridden ponies were a sight to behold (even in the rain).
