Showjumping Competition

As part of our Spring festival a showjumping competition will take place in Clifden on Saturday 2nd April for registered Connemara ponies. There will be a mini, midi, maxi and 1.10m competition. More details to follow....

Death of Tomás Ó’Máille

The Connemara Pony Breeders’ Society is sorry to hear of the recent passing of Tomás O’Máille from Derrartha Beg, Ceathr Rua. Tomás and his brother Bartley bred Connemara ponies under the prefix “Derrartha”.  The brothers stood many stallions including Abbeyleix Owen, Maam Hill, Loobeen Larry, Fort Dara, Seafield Silver Rogue, Cong Admiral and Robe Blue Thunder.  Tomás served as a CPBS Council member from 1998 to 1999. Tomás will be sadly missed by his many friends at the Connemara Pony shows. The society wishes to offer its condolences to the Ó’Máille...

CPBS Council Meeting Report

The Council of the CPBS met yesterday for their second meeting of 2016. The meeting was tinged with sadness as Council member Eamon McDonagh passed away since the last meeting. Eamon’s work with the Memorandum and Articles committee was acknowledged as was his commitment to the Society and the Connemara pony. Following a request from the Southern Connemara Pony Group it was agreed to give a High Performance Qualifier to the Cork Summer Show taking place in June. Certificate in Equine Transport

Diamonds Equestrian Centre are hoping to hold a training evening for the Certificate in Equine Transport. The course will consist of a 2 hour theory on a Wednesday evening 7pm-9pm in Renvyle, Co Galway. Once numbers are confirmed the date will be confirmed but it is hoped to be held in early February.
