As 2015 draws to a close it is fitting to review the year’s highlights. The E.G.M. that put in place the new Memorandum and Articles was the big success of the early summer. This was followed by a successful annual show in August where the number of ridden ponies were a sight to behold (even in the rain). The big numbers of showjumping ponies at Creagh in December for the Christmas Show was a third, if unexpected, spectacular highlight. Dr. Jack Murphy’s Discussion Paper and the Education Conference gave us...
Hey guys. If all those humanoids are putting their feet up (all two of them) why shouldn't we? Equality Fraternity and all that! So have a break all you colts and fillies. Enjoy yourselves, but for God sake, and this a real neigh neigh, don't swim in the sea!!...
The CPBS wishes all it's members and Connemara Pony lovers everywhere a happy and peaceful Christmas. As we provide food and shelter for the ponies, lets spare a thought for the unfortunate homeless and refugees who are without either. Nollaig Shona....

Seventy five ponies competed in four showjumping classes with a total prize fund of €1800. Five ponies jumped clear in the 70 -80cms class. The 90cms class was won...

Yesterdays educational conference provided the CPBS with a host of facts and figures which will certainly impact on its policies in the coming years. There is good news on the inbreeding coefficient in that it hasn't increased in the last ten years and remains at an average of 4.4%. There was very good news on HWSSD in that only 1% of the 230 randomly selected and tested were affected by the disease. The carrier status was more sobering with 19%, being carriers and this will need attention, more details to follow....
The unqualified success of the show jumping programme at the Creagh Christmas Show begs the question why this did not happen before now. Seventy-five ponies jumped in the four competitions, 80, 90, 1m and 1.10, most of them in two competitions. Despite the torrential rain and flooding, the showjumpers seemed to come out of the woodwork for what was somewhat of a watershed in how we market our pony. There will obviously be a lot more ‘days like this’. Sincerest gratitude to the Carey family of the Creagh Equestrian Centre, Clive...
The new Council of the CPBS held their first meeting last night in Ballinasloe. Tom MacLochlainn remains on as President. Jim Mullaney was re-elected as Vice-President.
