Council Meeting Report

The line up of Clifden judges was finalised at last night’s Council meeting. John Joe Bolton and Noel Sweeney will judge the morning classes in Ring one. Séan Stagg and Madeline Beckman will judge the afternoon classes in Ring one and Finola Nic an Iomaire and Fr. Christy McCormack will judge the morning classes in Ring two. Special Council Meeting Report

At a specially convened meeting of the Council of the CPBS in Galway today to consider proposed amendments to the current Memorandum and Articles of Association of the Society, the Council approved the amendments and they now proceed to the next stage of the process. Several attempts have been made in recent years to amend the Memorandum and Articles of Association of the CPBS to meet the needs of members in the 21st Century. Further Fontainbleu delight for Connemaras

WOW! Joining Cul Ban Mistress with a victory in France is Fiona Kelly & Ronan Mc Loughlin from Kildare's gelding "Holiday Hop On" (Robe Thunder x Holiday Cruising Bambi) who won the 6yr old competition (SJ) in Fontainbleu ridden by Jack Ryan. We have learnt that Cul Ban Mistress has won two legs and will compete in the Grand Prix final tomorrow. Council Meeting Report

The Council of the CPBS met last night at Dartfield Horse Museum in Loughrea for its fourth meeting of 2015. We were honoured to have Minister Michael Ring and Professor Pat Wall, Chairman of Horse Sport Ireland address the meeting. The specification for the new database is almost completed and will go for tender in the coming days. Dr Jack Murphy who is compiling a review of the CPBS Classification system chaired a lively discussion about classification and inspections. Connemara Pony Performance Mare Championship

The CPBS is delighted to announce it has received funding from Horse Sport Ireland of €5000 towards running a Performance Mare Championship. It is being introduced as an incentive to mare owners to produce their mares for a performance competition with an attractive prize fund and encourage the promotion of them as performance animals. The competition aims to promote and provide an outlet for four year old mares likely to make high class show jumpers or eventers and to identify performance mares at a young age that may be suitable...

Spring Festival 2015

The Spring Festival kicked off on Friday with the Colt inspections in Mullingar Equestrian Centre, with six colts attaining class one status.  The second day of colt inspections took place in the Showgrounds, Clifden the next morning with another five colts attaining class one status.  On Saturday afternoon Kate Murray MRCVS and Sheila Ramsay gave a presentation on Hoof Wall Separation Syndrome (HWSD), its implications, how to test for it and how to prevent it.
