CPBS Sponsorship of €150 to the top placed Connemara in the Novice Eventing League

Ms. Ann Reade from the CPBS Performance Committee presenting a cheque and rosette to Emma Kennedy. Emma and her Connemara pony Laburnum Ineer (2005 ex: Starlit (by: Maam Hill) and by Coosheen Stormboy) were awarded the prize for the highest placed Connemara in the Novice Eventing League. Bred by Mr. Seamus McDonagh from Inverin, Co Galway. Emma and Laburnum Ineer (aka Merlin) have had a very successful partnership and were placed 19th at the European Championships in Millstreet during the Summer. Merlin has since been sold to the UK. Show Jumping Competition for Class One Stallions

The Show jumping competition to be held on Sunday 29th March will be over a metre course and not 1 metre 10 as originally advertised. The competition is for Class One stallions and riders need to be 14 years on 01/01/2015, there is no upper age limit for riders. The competition will be two rounds with all clear rounds going through to the second round which will be against the clock. There is a prize fund of €1000. Hoof Wall Syndrome Disease Presentation

There will be a HWSD (Hoof Wall Syndrome Disease) presentation in CLIFDEN 3pm Saturday 28 March at the Theatre in the Station House Hotel.  It is open to all interested people, all Connemara breeders, and owners Padraic Heanue has organized this event so veterinary surgeon, Kate Murray (MRCVS, MVB), can give her talk on HWSD, that she presented at the last CPBS council meeting. Hoof Wall Separation Disease

Hoof Wall Separation Disease was discussed at length at the CPBS Council meeting on Monday 9th of February. Veterinarian Kate Murray outlined the symptoms and implications of the disease and explained how it is genetically inherited. Connemara pony breeders are well placed to manage the disease as its management is exactly the same as that of the Blue Eyed Cream gene. Council Meeting Report

The Council of the CPBS met last night for their second meeting of 2015. Interest in  the Connemara pony continues to flourish and  twenty four new membership applications were approved by the Council. It was agreed to introduce two new events as part of the stallion parade on Sunday 29th March. Class one Stallions will have the option of competing in either a showjumping competition over a 1.10 course with a round against the clock or a ridden stallion competition as well as being shown in-hand. Connemara Pony Spring Festival

The Connemara Pony Spring Festival takes place from Friday 27th March to Sunday 29th March. The festival features colt inspections on Friday and Saturday as well as Filly inspections on Saturday.
