Connemara Pony Training Days

  The Connemara Pony Breeders' Society are running two training day for individuals hoping to compete in Working Hunter competitions, the High Performance class in Clifden and the WH performance classes at the RDS or you may just want to improve your flat work or jumping. Connemara Pony Sale, Clifden February 22nd

Connemara pony sales held it's annual one day February sale on Saturday 22.   From a catalogue of 169 ponies, 123 went through the sales ring with 89 been sold. The general feeling was that trade had improved from 2013 sales. Broken & ridden ponies again were much sought after, with any nice 5 year old or over gelding selling from €2100 to €3000. 4 year old geldings again broken & ridden fetched from €1550 to €2300.  Unbroken geldings were also a good trade with prices for them ranging from €650...

The 2014 Connemara pony stallion parade will be held in Clifden on Sunday 30th March starting at 12 noon. Entry forms can be downloaded below. The Connemara pony stallion parade is the largest stallion parade in Ireland and is a great opportunity for stallion owners to promote their stallions. Mikey has a great weekend competing Connemara Ponies

Mikey Pender had a very successful weekend at the Show Jumping Ireland Pony Spring Tour held on Sunday (23rd) at Coilog Equestrian Centre, in Co Kildare.  He won the 1.30m HSI Fontainebleau class on the 10 yr grey gelding Doon Laddie (photo).  Bred by the late John Luskin from Cong, Co Mayo. The 1.30m HSI Fontainebleau competition at Coilog Equestrian Centre on Sunday 23rd February was won by the ten year old Connemara gelding Doon Laddie, ridden by Mikey Pender. Doon Laddie is by Silver Shadow, ex: Doon Kate (by Island Lad) and was bred by the late former CPBS President John Luskin. Mikey Pender also rode Paddy Quinlan's stallion Blackwoodland Rock before he was recently exported to Estonia....

Blackwoodland Rock travels to Estonia

Paddy Quinlan’s Blackwoodland Rock (I Love you Melody ex Grey Rock Trish by Derrigragh Robin) has left Irish shores for Estonia. The 11yr old grey Connemara stallion was a member of the 2013 Irish team which won a bronze medal at the European championships. He jumped the previous year on the Finnish team. Blackwoodland Rock has been leased until after the European championships at Millstreet (30th July -3rd August) by an Estonian family for their daughter.  We would like to wish his new rider success with him, and look forward to...

Sillogue Darkie

Very regrettably, we have some unfortunate news to announce. On early Sunday morning the legendary Sillogue Darkie passed away after taking ill suddenly in his home yard. Nothing in the way of veterinary intervention could be done. Sillogue Darkie was sired by Ard Talisman out of Coilchru Esmerelda by Grange Sand Sparrow. Darkie was foaled with the Briscoe family in Monasterboice, Drogheda, Co. Louth. The Briscoe family are proud to have bred, owned and competed Sillogue Darkie who represented the Connemara breed so successfully for many years. He had many accomplishments...
