Connemara Pony Sales

Three Day Connemara pony sales held in Clifden on the 25th, 26th and 27th October . 840 ponies catalogued over the three days and  726 passed through the ring, 591 sold.

Highest price paid was €6,000 for lot 14 sold by Martin Curran from Waterford and bought by Uk buyer also lot 72 sold by John Casey from Co Clare and bought by regular German buyer Hannah Neupartl made €6,000.

Lot 168 made €4,300 again bought by the Germany lady, lot 151 made €4,100, seller here Colin Finn from Wexford and buyer Jason Sweeney from Ballina. Lot 114 sold by Martin Coyne fetched €4,100 for buyer John Mc Loughlin. Lot 68 sold for €4,000 to uk buyer. 29 lots sold from between €3,500 to €6,000.

Day two ( yearlings, 2 yo and upwards on sale)

Lot 375 a Dun yearling filly seller Anthony Rodgers from Clare buyer Francis Murphy from Clare made €3,200.

Lot 359 a 3 y o gelding made €3,300 for seller Niall Collins from Athlone with buyer Debbie Brown again from UK.

Lot 359, Metatrons Light, (Streamstown Mickey x Angel Of Ascension) was the highest priced 3 year old on day 2 of the October Sales

 

Lot 419 sold for €3,100 seller here Ed Sweeney from Cork.

Lot 459 made €2,900 unbroken 4 y o gelding. Seller Jarlath Lardner from Navan buyer Owen Hallinan from Westport.

Lot 516 made €3,100 seller here Liam O Connor from Limerick and buyer Bryan Dagg from Tipperary.

Foals on day three

All foals on the one day this year maybe part of reason for great trade for foals. Highest price foal was lot 698 seller Mary Nee from Oughterard buyer Cyril Naughton from Co Westmeath. This foal made €3,500, the sire of the foal is Silver Shadow

Lot 698, colt foal, Tullabrick Silver (Silver Shadow x Tullabrick Princess) made an impressive 3,500 on day 3 of the Clifden Pony Sales

Lot 686 made €2,150 for seller Tom Fitzgerald from Co Mayo buyer Aidan Naughton. Lot 668 sold for €2,100 vendor here Michael Conneely from Clifden with buyer Oliver Scollan from Co Leitrim. A large number of Foals sold from €1,500 to €2,150

Next sales are in February 2020 on Saturday 15 & Sunday 16.

Total ponies sold UK (44) France ( 35 ) Holland ( 29 ) Germany ( 27 ) Belgium (19 ) and Austria 3.
