IMPORTANT INFORMATION

 

  1. Always check the HWSD status of the pony you plan to purchase or breed from and to.
  2. N/N (not affected/not a carrier), N/HWSD (not affected/carrier) and HWSD/HWSD (affected) are the three status'.
  1. The status will be printed in the pony’s passport on the front and back page.
  2. Always ask to see the passport to check. Do not accept a verbal statement on the status.
  3. If purchasing at ‘the sales’ the official green Connemara passport will be available to view in the sales officeWhite passports are not Connemara passports.
  1. The CPBS strongly recommends that a purchaser does not buy a HWSD/HWSD pony.
  2. The CPBS strongly recommends that a purchaser does not buy a Connemara pony where the status information is unavailable.
  1. If breeding, please refrain from using a HWSD/HWSD pony in any cross.
  2. It is perfectly acceptable to breed a N/N to a N/HWSD. In fact the CPBS encourages this cross.
  3. It is perfectly acceptable to breed a N/N to a N/N.
  4. It is not recommended to breed N/HWSD to N/HWSD. A HWSD/HWSD could result.
  5. Due to EU legislation, the CPBS can only make recommendations in relation to breeding.
  1. If purchasing from a dealer, private sale or at sales remember CAVEAT EMPTOR – BUYER BEWARE!!!!
