IRISH GREEN HUNTER FINAL

Annual Connemara Pony Show – Thursday 11th August

 The Showgrounds, Clifden, Co. Galway

 

Rules and Conditions:

Open to 4yr old Registered Connemaras. Riders over 14 years on 1 January. Ponies must be registered in current owner’s name. Up to three ponies may qualify at each show. No change of rider in final, same combination qualifies. Judge’s decision is final.

Phase 1: Jumping course minimum of 8 fences (incl double) max height 80cm

Phase 2: Ride and conformation: ponies will walk, trot and canter as a group, then line up. Judge will ride each pony at a walk, trot, canter and (at judge’s discretion) extended canter. Pony will then be stripped, and shown in hand

Tack: Simple snaffle (as per IPS rules) excluding unjointed snaffle

No change of saddlery is permitted during competition with the exception of overreach boots and/or tendon boots, which may be used in Phase 1 only. Disregard for this rule will lead to elimination. Bandages not allowed. Spurs not allowed. Whips not to exceed 75cm. Running martingales only are permitted, but judges should pay particular attention to their effectiveness. Any suitable noseband is acceptable.

Course may be inspected mounted. No animal allowed to practise over any part of the course prior to start of class, as this will lead to elimination
