The allocation of council seats for the Connacht region took place on Wednesday (6^th October) at 8pm in the Salthill Hotel, Galway.  Mr. Tom Burke (Peace Commissioner) carried out the draw.  Candidates along with one observer were invited to attend. The following is the result of the draw in order   Seat C1 – Mr. Johnny Brady (3 year term) Seat C2- Mrs. Fiona Grimes (3 year term) Seat C3 – Mr. Peter J O’Malley (3 year term) Seat C4 – Mr. Ciaran Curran (3 year term) Seat C7 – Mr. Ray Halpin (2 year term) Seat C11 – Mr. Vincent Costello (1 year term)   As there was equal candidates to vacant electoral seats in Munster and Leinster the following are the candidates deemed elected to these seats   Seat M1 – Mr. Dave Sheedy (3 year term)   Seat L1 – Mrs. Phyllis Jones (3 year term)   There was no candidate for Ulster.
