Registration of Equines Resident in Northern Ireland on the UK Central Equine Database (UK CED)
If your equine is a resident in Northern Ireland, please note that the operator responsible for the equine is required to ensure that it is registered with the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) via the UK Central Equine Database (UK CED).
Please be aware that the CPBS does not update the UK CED when issuing an equine passport.
To ensure compliance with legislation and equine traceability requirements in Northern Ireland, operators are encouraged to contact a Northern Ireland Passport Issuing Organisation (PIO) to ensure that the equine’s details are recorded and updated on the UK CED.
The following Northern Ireland Passport Issuing Organisations can assist with this process:
- Northern Ireland Horse Board: www.nihorseboard.org
- Showjumping Association of Ireland – Ulster Region: www.ulstershowjumping.ie/UR-Passports/
- Breeders Elite: https://www.breederselite.co.uk/
