Council Meeting Report

The current Council of the CPBS held its final meeting last night having met fourteen times since the AGM last year. Following the AGM the newly elected Council will be in place. It was agreed to hold the stallion parade on Sunday 3rd April in Clifden.
The Council acknowledged the huge success achieved by Cúl Bán Mistress in showjumping this year and it was agreed to make a presentation to her owner at the Christmas show.
It was agreed that Blue Eyed Cream ponies are now eligible for Class one in the Studbook provided they meet all other criteria.
The need for a long term plan for the Society was discussed and it was felt a part of this should include conducting a feasibility study looking at developing an indoor arena in Connemara.
Council members were given the results of the recent election for seats on the Council. All candidates were thanked and the successful candidates were congratulated.
Following Sunday’s judges course it was decided that those who attended the course and are eligible to judge in Clifden will be given the option of completing a Linear Profiling training course and exam and the six highest placed judges following the exam will be invited to judge in Clifden.
Plans for the Christmas show on Saturday 12th December in Creagh Equestrian Centre are well underway. There will be a colt foal and a filly foal class and three showjumping classes. In the showjumping category there will be three competitions; a mini (70 – 80cms), a midi (90cms), and a maxi (1m).
Mr. Jerry Mahon presented proposed financial procedures to the Council as drafted by the Memorandum and Articles committee. These procedures include preparation of budgets by sub committees for approval by the Council. The document was unanimously accepted. Mr. Mahon also presented the proposed role of the Finance Officer which was accepted.
Mr. Jim Mullaney reported that the final day of the current linear profiling course will be held next Saturday. Following requests for private inspections for ponies going abroad it was agreed to hold an open inspection on Saturday 9th January.
Mr. Tom MacLochlainn thanked out going Council members Pierce O’Malley, Patrick Keaney, Mossie Joyce, John Riordan, John Varley and Jane Andrews for their work during the year.
