Object of Project
- To enhance the breeding status of our fillies.
- To help identify ponies with performance potential, for example as in dressage, eventing and show jumping
- To promote the sale of the Connemara pony throughout the world.
- To identify performance within the Connemara pony Stud Book.
- To encourage breeders to produce ponies of the highest standard possible.
- To identify to sport pony producers that the Connemara pony is the leading pure breed sports pony in the world.
- These assessments are open to Class 1, three and four old Connemara fillies only.
- Mares with foals at foot are not eligible.
- The pony’s passport will be inspected on the day of the assessment and microchip checked.
- Each filly will be presented in a correctly fitting snaffle/show bridle.
- Fillies are permitted to wear front tendon boots only.
- Ponies will be presented at show standard and must be sufficiently trained and fit to take part in all aspects of the assessment.
- The judge’s decision will be final.
- Times will be allocated for each participant.
- Handlers will be requested to release their pony in the arena and stand in the safety area set out for them.
- The jumping lane will consist of three fences which will be jumped four times.
- For 3-year-olds the maximum height will be 90cm with a spread of 95cm.
- For 4-year-olds the maximum height will be 1 metre with a spread of 1.05 metres.
- When the assessment is completed, the handler will be asked to catch the pony and lead her safely from the arena.
