The Connemara Pony Breeders’ Society (CPBS) is aware of recent rumours and misinformation circulating on social media. We want to take this opportunity to set the record straight and ensure our members and the wider community have accurate information.

CPBS OFFICES AND GROUNDS ARE NOT FOR SALE

There have been no discussions, formal or informal, regarding the sale of the CPBS offices or grounds. Any claims suggesting otherwise are completely false. The current council is committed to enhancing and investing in society resources, not reducing them.

INVESTING IN IMPROVEMENTS AND INFRASTRUCTURE

Rather than selling assets, we are focused on long-overdue upgrades to CPBS facilities, including:

• Improvements to heating and electricity systems
• Purchasing essential office equipment
• Expanding database resources and digital infrastructure to improve member services

COMMITMENT TO TRANSPARENCY AND STABILITY

We recognise the importance of clear communication and strong governance. The current council is working to strengthen CPBS operations, address past financial challenges and ensure a stable and sustainable future for breeders and members worldwide.

THE FUTURE OF INSPECTIONS AND THE ANNUAL SHOW

The Class E classification has been deferred until 2026 to allow for further discussion and refinement by the council and members.

The outsourcing of the CPBS Show was agreed upon in a democratic way at the AGM. As was the price increases across CPBS services i.e. Memberships, DNA kits etc.

These decisions have been made in the best interest of breeders and the Society

CPBS REMAINS AN INDEPENDENT ORGANISATION

The CPBS is not being transferred to any other governing body

Financial oversight has been strengthened and steps are being taken to ensure compliance with best practices

We urge all members and supporters to rely on official CPBS communications for accurate information rather than misinformation spreading online. If you have any concerns or questions, we encourage open and constructive dialogue via official channels.
