FAQ
You will need to complete an application form to apply for a DNA kit. This can be completed online or by post (See below).
Applications cannot be processed unless accompanied with a valid equine premises number – click here to apply.
For all applications we need the name of the sire and dam. You can use the online database here to check for names already registered.
We also need to know if you are the registered owner of the dam. If you are not the registered owner please see Transfer of Ownership.
The CPBS can only send a passport to the registered owner of the pony.
If you are availing of the membership rate you must be a member.

The DNA test will be sent to you within three to five working days.
The CPBS cannot accept any registration applications without pedigree. You will need to know the sire and dam to register a pony.
To maintain the integrity of the studbook, both parents must be HWSD tested through the CPBS.
Time line for passports is approximately 8-10 weeks. This is for straight forward applications that have no issues. If your registration results as an exclusion, this will delay the process significantly.
